During a treatment, why do you always leave one arm/hand needle-free?

6/15/2016

I do this in case you have an itch or need to adjust a little. It’s difficult to relax during an acupuncture treatment if you feel like you can’t move at all. I used to be the worst about this. Whenever I would get an acupuncture treatment, I would not move a muscle once the needles were in place. Then I realized I could ask the acupuncturist to not place needles in one arm. This helped ease my anxiety tremendously.

Remember, during an acupuncture treatment, tell your acupuncturist if something doesn’t feel right or you’re not comfortable. We want you to get the most out of your treatments and for you to feel safe and relaxed is important to us.
