My practice is unique in that I am also a Shiatsu practitioner so I weave Shiatsu (a Japanese form of acupressure) into each acupuncture treatment. You do not have to get undressed for your treatments and often I will not place an acupuncture needle directly where you have pain. I practice a distal style of acupuncture (choosing acupuncture points away from the site of pain) and it works beautifully. It's just different and unique- again, much like me. I don't consider myself a black sheep, more of a red pony. ;)
Also where I choose to practice is different. My "clinic" is located inside MSA Primary Care in Newark, Ohio.
Yes, I'm an acupuncturist working in collaboration with Western physicians. It's the best of both worlds in my opinion and how I believe the future of medicine should be- Western and Alternative practitioners working together to provide patients with the best care possible.
Dr. Michael Campolo, D.O. is a big reason I'm back in Ohio. He was kind enough and curious enough about what I do to invite me to practice alongside him and the other doctors at MSA Primary Care. We were all unsure how this would work, but it's been amazing. And I've been with them for seven years now and it's been good, very good; especially for the patients.
