About Dr. Christina Walker, Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, MEd,
Licensed Acupuncturist
Hi there! I’m Christina. I grew up in rural Ohio, moved to Pittsburgh to attend graduate school and became a teacher - focusing on English as a Second Language. While teaching, one of my students told me stories of his childhood in China. He told me that he when he was a little boy, he broke his arm. His mother took him to a man (an acupuncturist) that used a few needles here and there, applied an herbal paste to his arm, put his arm in a sling and sent him home. Every day they went to see this man, who applied more herbs and did some acupuncture. Within a month his arm was healed. I found this fascinating - no cast, no hospital, no surgery - just needles and herbs. I was amazed and intrigued. I needed to know more.
I searched online and found a tiny college out in Oregon that specialized in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine. I knew that this is what I was meant to do (though I’d never had acupuncture before). Once I was accepted, I sold most of my belongings and camped my way across the United States till I arrived in Oregon. After four years of acupuncture medical school, I worked for the acupuncture college and had a private practice for eight years. I then moved back to Ohio in 2016.
